2021-22 Annual Report | Visionary Society

Solebury was founded on the clear and inspired vision of those who knew they were creating a new kind of independent school and revolutionary way of shaping learning. A place where, according to founder Arthur “Doc” Washburn, there was “free exchange of opinions and ideas outside the classroom as well as within…where friendship reigned between teachers and pupils.”

Our Visionary Society is generously preserved by philanthropic partners who continue to support the building of a dynamic and prosperous Solebury School with a dedicated eye focused on the needs of our community today and into the future.

We honor these leaders for their appreciation of the past paired with a vision for the future growth of Solebury School and are profoundly grateful for their generous cumulative commitments of $1,000,000 or more.

"Solebury School has played an outsized role on who I am. A place where I began to find my bearings; a place where 'performing' began to outpace 'storming'.” And, of course, for these many decades since, a place close to my heart for what the Solebury experience has meant to me. Kären and I find it both an honor and a privilege–along with, of course, good luck–to support Solebury in its continuing journey!” - Jay '59 and Kären Abbe

The following is our list of our philanthropic leaders whose enduring generosity over the years totals an investment of $1,000,000 or more.
